ASTDA Annual Recognition Awards

We are accepting nominations for our annual recognition awards, to be presented at the 2026 STI Prevention Conference August 31- September 2 in Atlanta, GA.

ASTDA awards recognize individuals who epitomize the Association’s mission to foster scientific knowledge, develop leadership, and champion practice in the field of sexually transmitted infections. Please see our website for more details and prior winners. This year, we are seeking nominations for:

  • The ASTDA Distinguished Career Award – presented to a person with a long and extraordinary career in the STI field
  • The Jack N. Spencer Award – presented to a person with a long and extraordinary career in STI prevention, characterized primarily by outstanding commitment to program science
  • The ASTDA Achievement Award – presented to a person at mid-career, to acknowledge an outstanding body of work in STI or to an individual for a single major achievement in the field
  • The ASTDA Early Career Award – presented to a person engaged in outstanding work in the STI field who is no more than seven years from completion of training

Nominations are due April 7, 2026. They must include the CV of the nominee and a single, short (one-page maximum) letter summarizing why the nominee is being put forward. Current members of the ASTDA Board are not eligible for awards. The nominator must be a member of ASTDA.

Please note: individuals nominated in one year who do not receive the award will be automatically considered for the same award in the next year.
